Beaches:

Muskoka's many lakes are made for recreation and there is no shortage of inviting sandy beaches.

  • MUSKOKA BEACH PARK: on the east side of Gravenhurst, on the way to Taboo Resort. Muskoka Beach Rd
  • MUSKOKA BAY PARK: Beside the baseball diamond in the west side of Gravenhurst, along Hwy. #169
  • GULL LAKE PARK: In Gravenhurst off Bethune Drive.
  • BALA PARK BEACH: Famous for waterskiing competitions. Along Hwy. #169 west of Gravenhurst
  • KIRBY's BEACH: A large beach on Lake Muskoka off Beaumont Drive in Bracebridge.
  • BOYER's BEACH: A large, beautiful beach on Lake Muskoka near Bracebridge. Take Golden Beach Rd off Hwy. #118 east.
  • PORT SYDNEY: Like an English seaside beach, on pretty Mary Lake. A long, beautiful beach with a township dock in the heart of town. Located off Hwy.11 between Bracebridge and Huntsville.
  • HUTCHESON BEACH: Off Ravenscliffe Road near Huntsville on Lake Vernon.
  • GEORGIAN BAY ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK: On Beausoleil Island 17 km north of Port Severn near Honey Harbour. Boat access from Honey Harbour.
  • DWIGHT BEACH: A large beach in the town of Dwight. Hwy. #60 east of Huntsville.
  • JASPEN PARK: Located in the town of Bala
Waterfalls:

With its numerous river systems Muskoka has a bountiful supply of scenic falls, many in the centers of towns and villages.

  • HIGH FALLS: The highest falls in the district is 23 meters and one of the most easily accessed - just off Hwy. #11, north of Bracebridge. High Falls Park is for day use with picnic grounds and a swimming area.
  • MUSKOKA FALLS: Can be seen from Hwy. #11 near Bracebridge but best appreciated from the hamlet of Muskoka Falls. A portage route takes you to the base of the falls.
  • WILSON'S FALLS: This pretty cascade on the east side of Bracebridge is the focus of a new walking path in town.
  • BRACEBRIDGE FALLS: In the heart of the town, above Bay Park. A lookout and foot bridges above and below the falls give full impact. Perfect for swimming and picnics.
  • VANKOUGHNET FALLS: a picturesque falls set in this little village on Hwy. #118 east.
  • BALA FALLS: Dramatic falls cutting through the centre of town create an island with numerous bridges. A beautiful place to walk about.
  • DEEBANK FALLS: A rushing chute on the Skeleton River, 3 km east of Windermere.
  • OXTONGUE RIVER RAPIDS: Long and dramatic series of rapids just off Hwy. #60 east of Dwight. Requires a hike in, but worth the effort - great for picnics.
  • RAGGED FALLS: Famous falls and park on Hwy. #60 just outside of Algonquin Park.
  • WHITE'S FALLS: Where six Mile Lake flows into Gloucestor Pool (Trent Severn Waterways) 15 km N. of Port Severn off Hwy. #400 on White's Falls Rd.
  • PORT SYDNEY FALLS: Located in the Village of Port Sydney, out Muskoka Road 10.
Sites of Interest:
  • DORSET FIRE TOWER: A 30 metre steel tower on top of a 150 metre hill provides a spectacular view of Dorset. It's north of Dorset on Hwy. #35 - a breath taking view in any season.
  • DYERS MEMORIAL: A man's monument to his wife. This beautiful monument is surrounded by a 10 acre botanical garden. Located in Huntsville. From King Williams street and Hwy. 60, take Muskoka Road #3 out 3 km to Williamsport Road and turn right. Follow back for 5 km and turn left at green mail lock box. For about 2 km follow the road crossing a bridge and turn right just past the old stone Williamsport School House. Rough road.
  • LIONS LOOKOUT: In the town park near the community centre. Drive to the top for a breath taking view of Huntsville and Fairy Lake.
  • HUCKLEBERRY ROCK CUT: Milford Bay on Hwy. 118 East. One of Ontario's longest rock cuts on a curve. Walls up to 40 fee in height cut through pink granite gneiss.
  • MUSIC ON THE BARGE: Gull Lake Park, Gravenhurst.
